Supportive People

Page 23

Throughout ACEs studies nationwide we find that self-reported ACE scores often came with positive news. Many people who experienced ACEs were given support and nurturing by a caring adult of some kind. Many times this adult was a teacher. Educators and caregivers spend so much time with children that they are able to clue in to “off behavior” and identify when there is a problem with a child. The signals can be minor but caregivers recognize them and do what they can to help.

Consider this video of a Head Start program that focuses on creating those supportive relationships between children, families, and community resources.
